Mikey Weinstein: A Bitter, Harsh, Left-Wing Version of Donald Trump

Believe it or not, Michael “Mikey” Weinstein has been immortalized in theatre. In 2008, Steve Cosson wrote “This Beautiful City,” a play about Colorado Springs and the Evangelical community. Mikey Weinstein is portrayed in that play, and he’s touted it whenever its been in production.

The American Theater Company’s Youth Ensemble put it on this summer in Chicago. As part of their experience, they visited Colorado Springs and saw New Life Church, which also plays a prominent role in the play, and they met Mikey Weinstein.

While Weinstein was probably holding out for Bruce Willis, he was played instead by ATC actor Max Dizon:

dizon1In an August interview with the cast, Dizon explained what it was like to meet the man he was portraying [emphasis added]:

The conversation with him with him was…fantastic. Even though it was it was mostly him just kind of going on multiple different tangents after I would ask, like, a small question.

I was kind of getting annoyed because he wouldn’t stop talking…but at the same time, I’m just like, “He’s answering all my questions before I even ask them…”

Talking with Weinstein, that was an amazing experience…to see his perspective and why he had such a harsh rhetoric.

For those who have dealt with Weinstein before, that description rings very true. Talking to Weinstein is like pulling the string on a toy — Weinstein starts down his talking points (regardless of the question) and goes on a long, meandering and often irrelevant monologue, paying no mind to the person to whom he’s speaking. That monologue will probably also be unoriginal; just about anything he says you can find verbatim online from his prior diatribes.

Dizon unapologetically described Weinstein as having “harsh rhetoric” and then followed it up with more detail [emphasis added]:

When I just read through his monologues…I thought that he would be like a left-wing equivalent of someone like Donald Trump. But when I met him and when I had that discussion with him, he — he wasn’t as harsh as I took him to be…

There was still that sense…like he had a grudge and there’s still that sense of bitterness against religious conservatives, but he had a very good reason to be so harsh, considering…the only way to have your voice be heard is to scream as loud as possible and hit things.

It’s a fascinating observation by a seemingly impartial observer. Dizon says that Weinstein’s words made him seem like a harsh person. In fact, Dizon compared him to a liberal version of Donald Trump — something that surely makes Weinstein cringe.

Dizon also says Weinstein was “bitter[] against religious conservatives” and he came from a world where you had to “scream as loud as possible and hit things” to be heard. That’s an amazingly astute picture of one Mikey Weinstein — a harsh man motivated by bitterness, not principle or liberty.

It seems meeting Weinstein softened Dizon’s view slightly, though that apparently came from the belief that Weinstein had a reason to be a harsh, screaming, violent person — not because he wasn’t one.

In a somewhat tragic note, notice Dizon never said anything noble or virtuous about Weinstein. He didn’t say anything about defending religious freedom, the Constitution, or standing on principle. He didn’t say Weinstein’s words or actions were admirable or noble, nor did he indicate they had needed value in society today.  In fact, Dizon didn’t say anything positive about Weinstein at all — not one word of praise.

In essence, the kid playing Mikey Weinstein on stage described the real-life Mikey Weinstein as a bitter person who hates religious conservatives and throws tantrums.

That is Weinstein’s immortalized legacy.

But Mikey Weinstein’s failures in life can serve as a cautionary tale for others:

For what do you want to be remembered? If someone portrayed you in a play, what storyline do you think they’d see? Do you think they’d see the same life theme you do?

Are you going to be immortalized as an embittered, get-off-my-lawn, hate-filled cynic, or will you be known for the love of Christ?

What’s your legacy?

  • I would really like to meet Mr. Weinstein. Unfortunately, he has chosen to reject my requests to debate him (from articles, and personal email), and now he is sending private emails to complain about me, because he is too afraid to do it publicly. I will always remember him, not as a defender of religious liberty, but as a coward, in my opinion.

  • All of Weinstein’s advisers are all like parrots, they all say the same thing every time, it is like they have no original thoughts, and Joan Slish is the master of copying and pasting her diatribe about he Establishment Clause and her own hermeneutics of scripture.

  • I have dealt with Mikey on many fronts, including the death of my son as a Muslim family (Mackenzie Agee), and I can tell you that he called and checked on me during my issue many times a day. I started to get tired of how frequently Mikey called me! Mikey cared more than the religious “chaplains”, and checked on my family’s well-being more than our designated chaplain. Mikey has a mission. It’s to allow every religion to practice freely, as provided by the U.S. Constitution, in the military. For someone to say that Mikey is a parrot or has no original thoughts is asinine. You don’t know him, you don’t know his organization. Mikey is not afraid of confrontation or talking to people with a position opposite to his; Mikey spends his time talking to people that need his help, not people that feel hurt by his views. If he chooses not to respond to each and every hate email he gets, it’s because he is busy responding to clients who NEED him. Negation of a response does not admit guilt. Mikey would never have time to help his clients if he chose to respond to each and every email he received from a “hater.”

    • @Mackenzie Agee,
There are not enough words to offer to assuage the grief of losing a child, surely a devastating loss for any family.

You were fortunate that Fort Bragg had an Army Imam, Chaplain Mohammed Khan, who indicated he and everyone was willing to help. While nothing can make up for what happened in 2008, how have your experiences been since then?

Regrettably, Mikey Weinstein’s mission isn’t for every religion to practice freely. For example, fairly recently he said he was fighting to stop Christians in the military from being able to have church services, which you can read here. How does that support free practice?

You misread the comment about hate mail, as it wasn’t about Weinstein. We’d all be curious to know who Weinstein has “helped” recently, as it seems the only thing he’s done is try to restrict Christianity in the military. Do you have any examples?

    • Mackenzie Agee

First, I am very sorry to hear about the death of your son. My heart and prayers go out to you and your entire family.

Unfortunately, Mikey does not have a mission to allow “every religion” to practice freely. Mikey does not conspicuously target Muslims, or homosexuals, he targets Christians whenever the reference to Jesus, God, or the Bible is mentioned.

I agree with you that Mikey has a mission. It is to suppress Christianity. While he is calling to show support for you during a difficult time in your life, Weinstein is also attacking Christians in the military just for having a Bible on their desk, or because they reference God during a national day of prayer event, or because someone says bless you. If you were a Christian, Weinstein would never have called you.

Weinstein’s group (MRFF) is also sending letters to my command just because he does not like my beliefs, which is not an act of contrition, but is cowardly.

I also agree with you that Mikey is not afraid of confrontation or talking with a position opposite to his. That’s because he makes a fat paycheck to be disputatious towards Christians: http://christianfighterpilot.com/2014/07/07/mikey-weinstein-scrambles-to-defend-huge-paycheck/

Finally, I would like to leave you with some words of comfort from the Lord Jesus Christ, who can provide you with eternal comfort that no one can provide:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

    • Since you seem to admire that mentally sick Weinstein please be kind enough to read what Weinstein thinks about Christians –these are exact quotes from Weinstein’s own mouth: Read Mikey’s own litany of vulgar, hateful words against millions of evangelical Christians and Jews who serve in the U.S. military:

Mikey Weinstein has declared war on millions of Christians, saying on tape “We are at war with a sub-set of evangelical Christianity…how many? Roughly 12.6% of the American public or 38 million people.”
      persuade.tv/MikeyAtWar.mp3

Mikey Weinstein has reportedly sued Christians, or the Military to silence Christians 5 times, and failed in all 5 lawsuits, with 0 surviving to trial. Despite his failure he feigns expertise on the Constitution, threatening to sue again.
      christianfighterpilot.com/blog/2012/04/04/michael-weinstein-loses-lawsuit-against-imprecatory-chaplain

Mikey Weinstein reportedly told one inteviewer: “The biggest crime I accuse the religious right of and it’s a blood libel, a crime against humanity is torturing that concept…My response is: F**k you. F**k you. How dare you?”
      http://www.csindy.com/colorado/mikeys-mission/Content?oid=1132893

Mikey Weinstein routinely threatens violence, reportedly saying “When I see anti-Semitism, I don’t f**king care if I live or die, someone’s going to get a f**king beating.”
newhumanist.org.uk/1681 (There are more disgusting hateful quotes from this mental giant; but this will have to do for now.)

Yeah, this mental case Weinstein is a real nut case who needs mental counseling…. my sympathy to his wife ( although I find it hard to see how any “sane” woman would have married this pathetic poor excuse of a man who clearly needs ‘psychological help from a good mental help” therapist. One more thing; had YOU being a Christian; I guarantee you that this nutcase would “NOT” have called you or assisted you in your time of sorrow.
PS: I’ve never spoken to this hateful nutcase-Weinstein; but I’ve had the disgusting pleasure of having his male associates from his
organization email me. They are also pathetic hateful sick individuals; not worth my time debating them.

  • I read most all of your comments.
So then, is Waky Mikey still being protected by Obama who hired him?
IF YES, then we need to pray to the Master of our Lives to protect us from this devil in our midst. When Weinstein’s life is over, he’s going to be awfully surprised that there Is A God and guess what….there is hell. When he gets there, the devil will turn up the heat in to welcome him home.
