{"id":9482,"date":"2011-02-23T03:11:24","date_gmt":"2011-02-23T08:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=9482"},"modified":"2011-02-21T03:12:03","modified_gmt":"2011-02-21T08:12:03","slug":"dadt-repeal-plan-published-still-some-pushback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/23\/dadt-repeal-plan-published-still-some-pushback\/","title":{"rendered":"DADT: Repeal Plan Published, Still Some Pushback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Department of Defense, Clifford Stanley, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defense.gov\/\/news\/newsarticle.aspx?id=62787\">issued the plan to implement\u00a0repeal<\/a> of the policy known as &#8220;Don&#8217;t Ask, Don&#8217;t Tell&#8221; to the service secretaries (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonblade.com\/content\/files\/2011\/02\/OSD_RIP.pdf\">memo here<\/a>).\u00a0 The plan reportedly follows the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/06\/dadt-repeal-plan-covers-religion-chaplains-transsexuals\/\">prior implementation plan closely<\/a>.\u00a0 The Air Force says training will &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.af.mil\/news\/story.asp?id=123242364\">soon begin<\/a>,&#8221; while the Navy has already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military.com\/news\/article\/navy-sets-training-for-dadt-repeal.html\">set its schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Air Force Times<\/em> notes the training and logistical requirements of <!--more-->repeal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/2011\/02\/military-dont-ask-dont-tell-training-021111w\/\">will also occur in combat zones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics &amp; Religious Liberty Commission, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpnews.net\/bpnews.asp?id=34643\">wrote a letter to Congress<\/a> encouraging them to prevent repeal:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[T]here is still time to save our military, and especially our service members with sincerely held religious beliefs that will, inevitably, be silenced by non-discrimination policies that elevate and favor sexual minorities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, a potential presidential candidate, has indicated he would support <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/bensmith\/0211\/Pawlenty_would_cut_funds_for_Dont_Ask_repeal.html\">cutting funds that are being used to implement repeal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">With reference to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alliancealert.org\/2011\/02\/11\/memo-to-secretaries-of-the-military-departments-dadt-repeal-plan\/\">ADF<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Department of Defense, Clifford Stanley, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, issued the plan to implement\u00a0repeal of the policy known as &#8220;Don&#8217;t Ask, Don&#8217;t Tell&#8221; to the service secretaries (memo here).\u00a0 The plan reportedly follows the prior implementation plan closely.\u00a0 The Air Force says training will &#8220;soon begin,&#8221; while the Navy has already set its schedule.
