{"id":8472,"date":"2010-12-17T00:45:46","date_gmt":"2010-12-17T05:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=8472"},"modified":"2010-12-13T03:21:56","modified_gmt":"2010-12-13T08:21:56","slug":"dadt-and-women-in-combat-the-logical-outcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/17\/dadt-and-women-in-combat-the-logical-outcome\/","title":{"rendered":"DADT and Women in Combat: The Logical Outcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was bound to happen.\u00a0 While some have claimed the US military should not discriminate on the basis of sexual preference, they&#8217;ve been unable to explain why the US military still discriminates on the basis of <em>gender<\/em>.\u00a0 A new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/2010\/12\/military-women-combat-120710w\/\">report from a Congressional panel<\/a> now recommends removing those very policies.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Defense Department should eliminate restrictions on women serving in combat units and end all \u201cgender restrictive policies,\u201d according to a blue-ribbon panel created by Congress.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The logic of the report\u00a0is astounding:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Keeping women out of combat units and combat-related job fields can reduce their career opportunities, particularly in the officer corps and in the Army and Marine Corps, according to the commission\u2019s research.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have shown current policies and their references to \u201cforward\u201d units to be outdated.
