{"id":8411,"date":"2010-12-14T00:45:03","date_gmt":"2010-12-14T05:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=8411"},"modified":"2010-12-13T03:13:31","modified_gmt":"2010-12-13T08:13:31","slug":"report-fatal-c-17-crash-pilot-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/14\/report-fatal-c-17-crash-pilot-error\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Fatal C-17 Crash &#8220;Pilot Error&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2010\/12\/10\/report-faults-pilot-deadly-alaska-c-crash\/\">news reports<\/a>, the July C-17 crash that killed four crewmembers shortly after takeoff in Alaska was caused by pilot error.\u00a0 The report&#8217;s press release and a\u00a0video of the C-17 takeoff (up to just prior to impact), are available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pacaf.af.mil\/library\/aibreports\/index.asp\">PACAF website<\/a>.\u00a0 (The video has already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aaWI8MNL4Do\">made it to YouTube<\/a> as well.)<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pacaf.af.mil\/news\/story.asp?id=123234572\">release<\/a>,\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The accident investigation board found clear and convincing evidence the cause of the mishap was pilot error&#8230; The pilot placed the aircraft outside established flight parameters and capabilities&#8230; The pilot aggressively flew the aircraft in a manner inconsistent with established flight procedures, resulting in a stall. The pilot failed to take required stall recovery actions. Furthermore&#8230;\u00a0the co-pilot and safety observer failed to recognize or address the developing dangerous situation.
