{"id":7124,"date":"2010-09-10T00:30:03","date_gmt":"2010-09-10T06:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=7124"},"modified":"2011-03-23T23:16:07","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T04:16:07","slug":"groups-use-threats-of-others-violence-to-achieve-ends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/10\/groups-use-threats-of-others-violence-to-achieve-ends\/","title":{"rendered":"Groups Use Threats of Others&#8217; Violence to Achieve Ends?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an interesting perspective, <a href=\"http:\/\/volokh.com\/2010\/08\/30\/koran-burning-minister-and-council-on-american-islamic-relations-spokesman-play-into-each-others-hands\/\">Eugene Volokh writes an article<\/a> on the &#8220;conflict&#8221; between the Koran-burning church in Florida and Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).\u00a0 To the point, he quotes Hooper saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Can you imagine what this will do to our image around the world&#8230;And the additional danger it will add whenever there is an American presence in Iraq or Afghanistan?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After going through several explanatory examples and analogies, Volokh draws an interesting conclusion:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In those situations, the mainstream group representative seems to be consciously using the threat of [others&#8217;] extremist violence to achieve his own ideological goals. And he also seems to be trying to blame the people who are exercising their rights for the violence that would supposedly ensue.
