{"id":6102,"date":"2010-06-23T00:25:40","date_gmt":"2010-06-23T06:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=6102"},"modified":"2015-06-27T19:16:08","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T22:16:08","slug":"gazette-chronicles-weinstein-method","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/23\/gazette-chronicles-weinstein-method\/","title":{"rendered":"Gazette Chronicles Weinstein Method"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Colorado Springs Gazette<\/em>, which is local to the US Air Force Academy, had a short article on Michael Weinstein that seems to show Weinstein warming to the USAF Academy view on religion.\u00a0 What was interesting was the <em>Gazette<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gazette.com\/articles\/academy-100523-weinstein-few.html\">summation of Weinstein&#8217;s method<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The broad outlines of Weinstein\u2019s approach: Condemn in the strongest language possible. Publicly embarrass. Sue if necessary. Each new step raises the pressure on his publicity-averse targets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Criticize.\u00a0 Humiliate.\u00a0 Intimidate and threaten.\u00a0 This has long been Weinstein&#8217;s approach; it enables him to circumvent the policy-making processes, as well as the policies themselves, by coercing a public official to accept his demands.\u00a0 His intimidation and threats <!--more-->follow a\u00a0fairly routine form: surrender, or be on a late night news show in a negative light.\u00a0 What some\u00a0of his victims\u00a0fail to realize is that Weinstein has occasionally been scoffed and ignored, and in response he has done&#8230;<em>nothing<\/em>.\u00a0 He has routinely failed to follow through on even his most impassioned promises (like appealing the dismissal of his clients&#8217; cases).\u00a0 In that respect, Weinstein is an empty suit.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, some may now be wising to Weinstein&#8217;s ways and realizing that even if they bow, they&#8217;ll <em>still<\/em> end up on the news&#8230;because it&#8217;s <em>publicity<\/em> Weinstein wants.\u00a0 If his chosen victim rolls over, he&#8217;ll soon send out a\u00a0press release proclaiming his own self-importance (along with, of course, a fundraising request).<\/p>\n<p>As already implied, Weinstein&#8217;s <em>m.o.<\/em> is\u00a0likely the reason he hasn&#8217;t appealed the dismissal of any of his multiple failed lawsuits:\u00a0 the cases (and his &#8220;clients&#8221;)\u00a0aren&#8217;t important, <em>he seeks only publicity<\/em>.\u00a0 Even Weinstein&#8217;s wife admitted that he goes &#8220;overboard,&#8221; but that such extremism gives him the notoriety he wants:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;When he goes a little overboard, we talk about it,&#8221; [Bonnie Weinstein] said. &#8220;But people don&#8217;t realize that going overboard is what&#8217;s getting the attention.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He tried quiet and nice,&#8221; she adds. &#8220;Quiet and nice doesn\u2019t work.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(Mrs. Weinstein doesn&#8217;t seem to realize that observers have long realized that Weinstein&#8217;s extremism is &#8220;what&#8217;s getting the attention;&#8221; its certainly not the content of his accusations.)<\/p>\n<p>The article also notes that Weinstein &#8220;vigorously disputes&#8221; accusations that he is &#8220;anti-Christian.&#8221;\u00a0 Oddly, that is not truly the case.\u00a0 In response to such assertions, Weinstein has only said\u00a096% of his &#8220;clients&#8221; (a term even the <em>Gazette<\/em> puts in quotation marks) claim some form of Christian belief, a fact that has nothing to do with his own conduct.\u00a0 (This is little more than a re-worded &#8220;I have friends that are [x]&#8221; defense, a common logical fallacy.)\u00a0 What he has <em>not<\/em> done is explain why he targets only Christianity for what other religions do at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Casey Weinstein has called the <em>Gazette<\/em>&#8216;s summation of his father&#8217;s method a &#8220;great&#8221; excerpt.\u00a0 It is interesting he would be proud\u00a0of having his father publicly described in terms most often used for pre-adolescent bullies, albeit a bully with access to the courts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Colorado Springs Gazette, which is local to the US Air Force Academy, had a short article on Michael Weinstein that seems to show Weinstein warming to the USAF Academy view on religion.\u00a0 What was interesting was the Gazette&#8216;s summation of Weinstein&#8217;s method: The broad outlines of Weinstein\u2019s approach: Condemn in the strongest language possible.
