{"id":5535,"date":"2010-05-26T00:36:46","date_gmt":"2010-05-26T08:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=5535"},"modified":"2010-05-26T22:37:08","modified_gmt":"2010-05-27T06:37:08","slug":"faq-can-i-put-bible-quotes-in-my-military-email-signature-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/26\/faq-can-i-put-bible-quotes-in-my-military-email-signature-block\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQ: Can I put Bible quotes in my military email signature block?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It depends.\u00a0 Using the Air Force as an example, in official correspondence &#8212; that is, email intended to conduct official military business &#8212; it is not <em>technically<\/em> permissible for members to have quotes of <em>any<\/em> kind in their signature blocks.\u00a0 This is &#8220;technically&#8221; true because this rule, while in place, is rarely enforced.<\/p>\n<p>Air Force Instruction (AFI) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-publishing.af.mil\/shared\/media\/epubs\/AFI33-119.pdf\">33-119<\/a> says that\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Users will not add slogans, quotes, special backgrounds, special stationeries, digital images, unusual fonts, etc., to the body of their electronic messages.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thus, a strict application of this AFI means that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no one<\/span> is allowed to have <em>any<\/em> quote of <em>any<\/em> content in their official email signature block.\u00a0 Still, it is not all that unusual to see quotes from Vince Lombardi, Neo (<em>The Matrix<\/em>), Patton, Buddha, Jesus, or any of a host others in email signature blocks from military addresses.<\/p>\n<p>This rule refers specifically to <em>official<\/em> email (which is the context of the AFI).
