\"\"The US Navy recently launched<\/a> the USNS Harvey Milk<\/em>. Milk was famous for being dishonorably discharged from the Navy for his homosexuality. He was also an elected official in San Francisco when he was killed by a political acquaintance in 1978.<\/p>\n

The Navy said<\/a><\/p>\n

The ship honors Navy veteran and LGBT activist Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay candidates elected to public office… USNS Harvey Milk is the first ship named for an openly gay person.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thus, the US Navy clearly and emphatically said ship was named for Milk because he was gay<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Importantly, at the launch, President Biden’s Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said [emphasis added]<\/p>\n

Ship names are important<\/strong> because they express what we value as a Navy and as a nation<\/strong> and communicate those values around the globe in every port of call…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The decision to name the ship after Milk began nearly 10 years ago<\/a>, and was ultimately made by then-President Obama’s Navy Secretary Ray Mabus (who also attended the launch). At the time, Mabus was apparently trying to make a connection<\/a> between gay “heroism” and the Medal of Honor.<\/p>\n

There are already too many bad jokes about what Sailors do at sea and port. Now 125 US Sailors will have the unfortunate task of crewing a ship named for a man whose most famous act was having sexual relations with another man.<\/p>\n

There is no indication that, had President Trump been reelected, the naming of the ship would have been any different.<\/p>\n

According to the head of the US Navy, Harvey Milk represents the values of the US Navy — and the Nation. Simultaneously, the promotion of character and religious faith is ridiculed and opposed.<\/p>\n

How far we have fallen.<\/p>\n

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…<\/p>\n

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
