{"id":43901,"date":"2018-12-06T00:30:23","date_gmt":"2018-12-06T03:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=43901"},"modified":"2018-12-06T13:32:32","modified_gmt":"2018-12-06T16:32:32","slug":"hate-crimes-against-christians-rise-but-no-one-notices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2018\/12\/06\/hate-crimes-against-christians-rise-but-no-one-notices\/","title":{"rendered":"Hate Crimes against Christians Rise &#8212; But No One Notices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A variety of websites reported on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ucr.fbi.gov\/hate-crime\/2017\/topic-pages\/incidents-and-offenses\">FBI report<\/a> released last month that indicated occurrences of &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; had <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/416418-hate-crimes-up-for-third-year-in-a-row\">risen in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most noted the largest portion were &#8220;racial and ethnic bias,&#8221; but there was also a substantial increase in &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; based on religion:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There was also a nearly 23 percent increase in religion-based hate crimes in 2017&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Reports also highlighted the increase in anti-Semitic crimes, though anti-Muslim offenses actually decreased. From the report:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hate crimes motivated by religious bias accounted for 1,679 offenses reported by law enforcement. A breakdown of the bias motivation of religious-biased offenses showed:<\/p>\n<p>58.1 percent were anti-Jewish.<br \/>\n18.7 percent were anti-Islamic (Muslim).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What no one seemed to mention was the &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; against Christians, which made up the third largest religious hate crime category.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-Christian &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; trailed just behind anti-Islamic crimes at 11%, but merited not a single headline.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, the oh-so-persecuted atheist\/agnostic demographic reported 0.5% of the listed &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; in the FBI report.<\/p>\n<p>A crime motivated by hate (is there another kind?) is despicable on any level. To hear some people tell it, however, Christians are incapable of being victimized by such a crime due to their &#8216;position of privilege&#8217; &#8212; a trope seemingly confirmed by the general tendency of the media to completely ignore the FBI&#8217;s report of hate crimes against Christians. In fact, in some mainstream media reports on the FBI publication, the word &#8220;Christian&#8221; only occurred as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/11\/14\/opinions\/fbi-hate-crimes-data-whats-missing-berry-wiggins\/index.html\">surname of a perpetrator<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In an era in which some people claim religion is failing in America and secularism is on the rise, perhaps the knowledge that 10% of religious-based hate crimes are perpetrated against Christians &#8212; not atheists &#8212; will give someone pause.<\/p>\n<p>Not likely.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-action=\"like\" data-share=\"true\" data-show-faces=\"true\" data-layout=\"standard\" data-size=\"small\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><!-- blogpost --><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"2728423835\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6450825356098669\"><\/ins><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A variety of websites reported on the FBI report released last month that indicated occurrences of &#8220;hate crimes&#8221; had risen in 2017.
