{"id":42929,"date":"2018-02-28T00:30:46","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T03:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=42929"},"modified":"2018-02-28T01:36:54","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T04:36:54","slug":"mikey-weinstein-misses-another-military-prayer-luncheon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2018\/02\/28\/mikey-weinstein-misses-another-military-prayer-luncheon\/","title":{"rendered":"Mikey Weinstein Misses Another Military Prayer Luncheon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michael &#8220;Mikey&#8221; Weinstein tried to <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2018\/02\/08\/mikey-weinstein-launches-annual-prayer-breakfast-fundraising\/\">stop Kenneth Copeland<\/a> from speaking at Fort Jackson&#8217;s Prayer Breakfast in February, apparently believing he needed to protect US troops from Copeland&#8217;s religious beliefs regarding faith, healing, and PTSD. While Weinstein&#8217;s pleas were loud and desperate, the event went on regardless.<\/p>\n<p>Not much later, David Barton &#8212; seemingly Chris Rodda&#8217;s sworn enemy &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2018\/02\/15\/david-barton-speaks-at-military-prayer-breakfast-and-chris-rodda-doesnt-notice\/\">spoke at Joint Base Langley-Eustis<\/a>, but the MRFF was apparently unaware. Since no one complained, Weinstein and Rodda were unable to protect the troops from Barton&#8217;s &#8212; presumably offensive &#8212; Christian beliefs and presentation on the history of prayer in America.<\/p>\n<p>At about the same time, another prayer luncheon occurred at Fort Hunter Liggett, where a keynote speaker held politically sensitive views and religious beliefs opposed by a substantial percentage of American citizens &#8212; and, yet again, Mikey Weinstein was silent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/266368\/fort-hunter-liggett-hosts-four-chaplains-memorial-prayer-luncheon\">This time<\/a>, the speaker <!--more-->was Chaplain (LtCol) Khallid Shabazz. Of course, if the MRFF knew about the Fort Hunter Liggett\u00a0event, Mikey Weinstein <em>still<\/em> wouldn&#8217;t have complained.<\/p>\n<p>Because Chaplain Shabazz is a Muslim.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42930\" src=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/shabazzhunter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"880\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/shabazzhunter.jpg 880w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/shabazzhunter-300x95.jpg 300w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/shabazzhunter-768x244.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px\" \/>Weinstein and many of his acolytes portray the national prayer events as Christianity run amok, and Weinstein has railed against Christian speakers &#8212; at one point, his MRFF even claimed a speaker should be banned because he <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2011\/01\/26\/mrff-usafa-speaker-mcclary-not-a-true-christian\/\">wasn&#8217;t a &#8220;true Christian,&#8221;<\/a> whatever that means in Weinstein-speak.<\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s one thing more sensitive than <strong>military-Christianity<\/strong> in America, it&#8217;s <strong>military-Islam.<\/strong> And given how few Muslims there even are in the US military, Chaplain Shabazz &#8212; once called <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2011\/07\/19\/islamic-us-army-chaplain-ministers-to-all\/\">Michael Barnes<\/a> &#8212; is notable.<\/p>\n<p>After all, Mikey Weinstein&#8217;s frequent refrain is there would be &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2016\/08\/30\/mikey-weinstein-lies-about-religious-freedom-and-blood-in-the-streets\/\">blood in the streets<\/a>&#8221; if a military Muslim did what Christians in the military do.<\/p>\n<p>Yet there were no public complaints &#8212; from Christians or anyone else &#8212; over Chaplain Shabazz&#8217;s planned speaking engagement. There was no hue and cry over the tenets of his Islamic faith. And there was no blood in the streets.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s America. Americans enjoy\u00a0religious liberty &#8212; even within the US military. That means someday a chaplain or speaker is going to stand in front of you and hold or express religious beliefs with which you disagree.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s ok.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t make them <em>right,<\/em> by any stretch.\u00a0 But in America, people have the right to be wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Judging by the reaction to Chaplain Shabazz &#8212; as opposed to the reactions to Christian speakers and chaplains &#8212; it seems pretty much everybody gets that.<\/p>\n<p>Except Mikey Weinstein.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael &#8220;Mikey&#8221; Weinstein tried to stop Kenneth Copeland from speaking at Fort Jackson&#8217;s Prayer Breakfast in February, apparently believing he needed to protect US troops from Copeland&#8217;s religious beliefs regarding faith, healing, and PTSD.
