{"id":42546,"date":"2018-01-04T00:25:20","date_gmt":"2018-01-04T03:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=42546"},"modified":"2018-01-04T03:01:26","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T06:01:26","slug":"integrity-and-the-high-ranking-gay-jewish-chaplain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/04\/integrity-and-the-high-ranking-gay-jewish-chaplain\/","title":{"rendered":"Integrity and the &#8220;High Ranking Gay Jewish Chaplain&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Times of Israel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/how-a-high-ranking-gay-navy-chaplain-retired-with-pride\/\">recently covered<\/a> the retirement (last April) of US Navy Chaplain (CAPT) Jon Cutler &#8212; who was notable, apparently,\u00a0because he was both Jewish and homosexual.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42608\" src=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/joncutler.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"880\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/joncutler.jpg 880w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/joncutler-300x95.jpg 300w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/joncutler-768x244.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px\" \/>The article is rich in unintended irony,\u00a0including celebrating the free exercise of the Jewish faith by US service members in the Middle East &#8212; in an era when some are advocating the free exercise of <strong>Christian<\/strong> troops be <strong>restricted,<\/strong> even <em>within<\/em> the borders of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the theme of integrity returns to the issue of homosexuality in the military: With regard to serving as a homosexual before the repeal of DADT: <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[It] takes a toll on you on so many different levels,\u201d he said. \u201cYour individual sense of integrity, how you define yourself&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other piece is where you hurt people by not being honest&#8230;\u2018Honor, courage, commitment\u2019 are the Navy core values. How can you cover up? You want to serve. At the same time, you can\u2019t serve.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interesting, that some believe &#8220;integrity&#8221; is best served by <strong>changing<\/strong> the rules rather than <strong>following<\/strong> them.\u00a0 Some in the homosexual community seem convinced deception is acceptable if it advances their social cause &#8212; despite acknowledging the harm caused by violating integrity.<\/p>\n<p>Would Cutler advocate that <em>others<\/em> violate policies they dislike?
