{"id":42051,"date":"2017-10-23T00:15:12","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T03:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=42051"},"modified":"2017-10-23T08:48:01","modified_gmt":"2017-10-23T11:48:01","slug":"bethesda-dedicates-interfaith-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/23\/bethesda-dedicates-interfaith-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Bethesda Dedicates Interfaith Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42169\" src=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/bethesda.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/bethesda.jpg 700w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/bethesda-300x161.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>Naval Support Activity Bethesda recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcmilitary.com\/journal\/features\/nsab-dedicates-interfaith-center\/article_38f80996-4150-548d-a08a-424f77a67623.html\">dedicated an &#8220;interfaith&#8221; room<\/a> to support the religious activities of the troops who spend time in the many organizations hosted in the local area:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Some of the programs planned for the Interfaith Center are Monday Mass Catholic worship, \u201cWorship on Wednesdays\u201d Protestant service, Buddhist Worship and prayers, Muslim daily prayers, and Bible study groups, among other uses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>US Navy Chaplain (CAPT) Roosevelt Brown, the chief chaplain at the local Belvoir Community Hospital, specifically praised the decision to call it an &#8220;interfaith&#8221; room: <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m very glad that you called it an Interfaith center. It\u2019s important to say that it\u2019s not dedicated just for one group. It really is open to all.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Except Chaplain Brown just gave the description of a <strong>multi<\/strong>-faith center, not an <strong>inter<\/strong>faith center. There are many <strong>multi<\/strong>-faith facilities within the US military, largely due to a lack of space and resources limiting the ability of organizations to provide each faith group a dedicated facility. But there are no real &#8220;<strong>inter<\/strong>faith&#8221; centers &#8212; or locations designed to &#8220;encourage cooperation or interaction&#8221; among faiths.
