Last Friday, September 15th, was National POW\/MIA Recognition Day. It is intended to honor the memory of those imprisoned as POWs and those who have not returned. It is one of the few days that Congress officially mandates the flying of the POW\/MIA flag.<\/p>\n

It should be a somber occasion of remembrance — but for Michael “Mikey” Weinstein, it’s a target for his vitriol if those ceremonies dare to associate a Bible with the event.<\/p>\n

Weinstein recently shared Representative Steve Knight’s Facebook post<\/a> about Palmdale, CA, hosting a POW\/MIA ceremony<\/a> attended by a high school JROTC color guard. Weinstein was apparently too lazy to even add his own vitriol to that which he copied and pasted from an obscure Facebook page<\/a> apparently run by an atheist-MRFF supporter:<\/p>\n

Do you see the egregious and disrespectful violation of our military code of conduct present at this divisive and Un-American service too?…<\/p>\n

The #FilthyBook (Bible) on the table, the table that is meant for ALL our missing and fallen solders.<\/p>\n

Did you notice the unsanctioned inclusion? Or are you just so used to seeing it slipped in there against protocol that you thought it was part of the display?…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mikey Weinstein has been after the Bible for years, complaining about it wherever it appears. Occasionally organizations have kowtowed to his demands to remove it (despite at least one IG defending it<\/a>); occasionally they have ignored him.<\/p>\n

It’s a Bible. On a POW\/MIA table it merely represents the faith the POWs had and maintained in their perseverance until their return. Virtually every<\/a> POW who has ever spoken<\/a> about their time<\/a> as a prisoner has, in the very least, mentioned the clear and upfront faith of the group — represented in the church services, hymns, and prayer<\/a> in which they unabashedly participated as they were led by a “very religious man<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

For those who do not believe, it is merely a book. Yet, for some reason, the presence of that book scares Mikey Weinstein — and he’s so afraid he’s trying to attack any public semblance of faith he sees.<\/p>\n

By the way, even the US military still recognizes the day, and even some of those units use a Bible. Don’t tell Chris Rodda. She likes a good treasure hunt.
