{"id":41480,"date":"2017-07-31T00:15:02","date_gmt":"2017-07-31T03:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=41480"},"modified":"2017-07-31T00:49:27","modified_gmt":"2017-07-31T03:49:27","slug":"thwarted-fort-riley-attacker-gets-30-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/31\/thwarted-fort-riley-attacker-gets-30-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Thwarted Fort Riley Attacker Gets 30 Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Booker, the 22-year old Kansas man who tried to detonate what he thought was a car bomb outside Fort Riley in 2015, was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/us\/man-sentenced-to-30-years-in-prison-for-fort-riley-bomb-plot-1.479621\">sentenced to 30 years in prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When he pleaded guilty in February, he acknowledged that he wanted to kill Americans and participate in jihad to support the Islamic State group.<\/p>\n<p>Booker intended to detonate the bomb, which he believed contained 1,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate, and die in the process, prosecutors said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Booker had previously <!--more-->been unsuccessful in his attempt to enlist in the US Army. In case there was any doubt as to his motivations:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a video he made for Americans to see after his planned death, Booker said &#8220;You sit in your homes and think this war is just over in Iraq. Today we will bring the Islamic State straight to your doorstep.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Booker is one of 14 civilians &#8212; and multiple US troops and veterans &#8212; who have been motivated
