\"\"US Navy Chaplain (LT) Nathan Grooms recently led a beach service<\/a> near Subic Bay, Philippines, that was attended by more than 170 Marines — and 21 chose to be baptized. Of those 21, eight were American — the rest, from the local Philippine Military.<\/p>\n

\"\"That’s a good story in itself about the US military’s support for religious freedom wherever its troops are deployed.<\/p>\n

It’s also worth noting, however, that the US Marine Corps is continuing to support this type of service despite criticism and threats. Years ago Michael “Mikey” Weinstein called a similar baptism service “propaganda” for America’s adversaries<\/a>, naturally implying such religious exercise should be banned.<\/p>\n

That the US military continues to support the public religious exercise of its troops — and even a US chaplain baptizing local nationals in a foreign military — despite his attacks on religious liberty\u00a0gives you an idea about what it thinks about Mikey Weinstein.<\/p>\n
