{"id":41,"date":"2007-05-24T09:42:27","date_gmt":"2007-05-24T13:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=41"},"modified":"2009-11-21T21:38:37","modified_gmt":"2009-11-22T05:38:37","slug":"memorial-day-tribute-challenged-for-christian-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/24\/memorial-day-tribute-challenged-for-christian-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Memorial Day Tribute Challenged for Christian Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">A Memorial Day tribute to veterans is under fire from the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State because one of its sponsors is a religiously oriented organization.\u00a0 In their <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.au.org\/site\/News2?JServSessionIdr009=wojar13j32.app1b&#038;abbr=pr&#038;page=NewsArticle&#038;id=9149&#038;security=1002&#038;news_iv_ctrl=1241\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">article<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">, the AU says the &#8220;U.S. military participation in a three-day evangelical Christian gathering in Georgia violates the U.S. Constitution.&#8221;\u00a0 The Air Force also officially made an <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.events.airforce.com\/details.htm?event_id=3171\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">announcement<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"> (which, notably, makes no reference to religion) of the event.\u00a0 The Stone Mountain <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stonemountainpark.com\/mini-section\/default.aspx?id=16\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">announcement<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"> also mentions religious organizations only as sponsors of the event along with a local TV station, General Motors, and an auto parts store.\u00a0 The Task Force Patriot <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.taskforcepatriot.com\/\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">site<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">, which is the organizer of the event, goes out of its way to say that:<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Task Force Patriot does not attempt to draw members from their present church or fellowship. Task Force Patriot is not a political advocacy group, or combat club.
