{"id":409,"date":"2009-08-19T00:48:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-19T04:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/19\/military-officers-hold-great-prestige\/"},"modified":"2009-09-02T11:44:14","modified_gmt":"2009-09-02T15:44:14","slug":"military-officers-hold-great-prestige","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/19\/military-officers-hold-great-prestige\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Officers hold &#8220;Great Prestige&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Harris Poll has ranked the relative &#8220;prestige&#8221; of a variety of occupations for many years.\u00a0 This year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defenselink.mil\/\/news\/newsarticle.aspx?id=55417\">&#8220;military officer&#8221; climbed<\/a> from last year&#8217;s drop in prestige in the poll, with 51% saying that the profession held &#8220;very great prestige.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Harris Poll noted the following interesting\u00a0trend in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrisi.org\/harris_poll\/pubs\/Harris_Poll_2009_08_04.pdf\">its analysis<\/a>:<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While some of the numbers may fluctuate from year to year, one thing remains constant&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The professions that are at the top of the list&#8230;are not considered to be high-paying jobs&#8230;The ones at the bottom are ones that may have a lot of fame attached to them \u2013 athletes, actors, entertainers \u2013 or are ones that have the potential to earn large salaries \u2013 business executives, stockbrokers, real estate agents.<\/p>\n<p>People do not equate money and fame with prestige.
