{"id":40229,"date":"2017-03-16T00:25:52","date_gmt":"2017-03-16T03:25:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=40229"},"modified":"2017-05-01T01:33:38","modified_gmt":"2017-05-01T04:33:38","slug":"mikey-weinstein-finds-homage-in-air-force-toons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/16\/mikey-weinstein-finds-homage-in-air-force-toons\/","title":{"rendered":"Mikey Weinstein Finds Homage in Air Force Toons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/airforcetimes.va.newsmemory.com\/?selDate=20170313&amp;startEdition=Air+Force+Times+Domestic&amp;goTo=A9\">comic strip of the Air Force Times<\/a> recently took a swipe at the ever-present malcontent Michael &#8220;Mikey&#8221; Weinstein:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/airforcetimes.va.newsmemory.com\/?selDate=20170313&amp;startEdition=Air+Force+Times+Domestic&amp;goTo=A9\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40244\" src=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/aftoons.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1391\" height=\"753\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/aftoons.jpg 1391w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/aftoons-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/aftoons-768x416.jpg 768w, https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/aftoons-1024x554.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1391px) 100vw, 1391px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Weinstein, never one to pass on free publicity, immediately issued a press release and even paid for an advertisement on Facebook proclaiming the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MikeyMRFF\/posts\/10155138500903410\">huge homage<\/a>&#8220;. (It would seem he needs to look up the definition of that word.)\u00a0 Where Mikey Weinstein apparently feels he has &#8220;arrived,&#8221; others see (the reality) that Mikey Weinstein has become\u00a0a cultural punch line.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the beauty of a successful lampoon is <!--more-->that its subjects don&#8217;t even see it.\u00a0 In that regard, it seems artist Austin &#8220;Farva&#8221; May succeeded in spades. (And yes, that&#8217;s the same Austin May who <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2009\/10\/08\/uav-operators-get-wings-flight-pay\/\">designed the RPA wings<\/a> for the US Air Force in 2009.)\u00a0 That said, there&#8217;s also something to be said for a successful commercial endeavor being received by a larger audience, something May also seems to have accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>Reached for comment, May said simply [emphasis added]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While I certainly appreciate that art &#8211; in this case, comics &#8211; can be interpreted however the reader chooses, <strong>this strip was in no way meant to show support or endorsement for any organization or viewpoint<\/strong>.
