Real women appreciate it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One woman is organizing a protest against the billboard, calling it insulting &#8212; but only insulting to <em>women<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Molly Grace, a boutique owner in Winston-Salem, said she sees the sign as an attempt to silence women who want to be seen as equals to men.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>It&#8217;s absolutely, absolutely insulting to single mothers<\/strong>, to women who <!--more-->have careers whether they are small careers or big careers,&#8221; Grace said&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We are protesting patriarchy and sexism<\/strong>, and that this antiquated way of thinking about women exists at all,&#8221; a post on the Facebook page reads. &#8220;We are protesting the implied demand that women be silent and appreciate, regardless of whatever circumstances, their role as non-providers.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lost, of course, is that Molly Grace&#8217;s own view is extraordinarily sexist: First, she&#8217;s offended at something the billboard <em>doesn&#8217;t even say<\/em>. The billboard does not say women can&#8217;t, don&#8217;t, or won&#8217;t &#8220;provide.&#8221; It does call for\u00a0<em>appreciation<\/em>.\u00a0 What&#8217;s wrong with\u00a0a little appreciation?<\/p>\n<p>Further, why is the ironically named Grace not complaining that the billboard belittles <em>men<\/em> who do not &#8220;provide&#8221; &#8212; something\u00a0it does <em>explicitly<\/em>? That&#8217;s hypocritically sexist of <em>her<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Men <em>do<\/em> need to provide for their families, and Grace would probably be hard pressed to find any wife who disagreed. The relationships between men and women &#8212; husbands and wives, more specifically &#8212; are stronger when the men who work to provide\u00a0are appreciated by\u00a0the\u00a0women they love.<\/p>\n<p>It takes a pretty jaundiced and jaded heart to find something evil in that statement.<\/p>\n<p>Why is such basic decency objectionable?\u00a0 It seems <a href=\"http:\/\/amplifiergso.com\/molly-grace-enriching-the-community-through-creativity\/\">Molly Grace<\/a> &#8212; the &#8220;human rights activist&#8221; with a &#8220;liberal mindset and outspoken attitude&#8221; &#8212; has revealed little more than how easily she is offended.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.<br \/>\n1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-share=\"true\" data-show-faces=\"true\" data-size=\"small\" data-action=\"like\" data-layout=\"standard\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><!-- blogpost --><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"2728423835\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6450825356098669\"><\/ins><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fascinatingly simple and pithy billboard in North Carolina has generated an unusual amount of attention and angst: A billboard appeared last weekend on a highway connecting the city of Winston-Salem to Greensboro that reads, \u201cReal men provide.
