While Michael “Mikey” Weinstein’s lawyers weakly threatened this site with a lawsuit in 2009<\/a>, the “conversation” with Mikey actually began more than two years earlier. It turns out, in fact, that Mikey Weinstein can actually come across as an OK kind of guy — so long as he agrees with your ideology.<\/p>\n

In December 2007 — almost exactly 9 years ago — Mikey Weinstein responded to an email that rebutted a recent MRFF press release with the following missive:<\/p>\n

\"mikeyweinsteinemail24\"The random capitalization and punctuation (as well as his inability to release the period key on the keyboard) often make Mikey Weinstein’s emails seem as though they belong in his wife’s book about poor grammar and hate mail<\/a>. That aside, while he was being a bit arrogant and obnoxious, it was still relatively light-hearted.<\/p>\n

That changed a few hours later.<\/p>\n

In the email cited above, Weinstein had said<\/p>\n

your founding of the “Christian Fighter Pilots Association” must bring great pride and joy to you, eh??!!…….<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

to which the response was<\/p>\n

I did not found such an organization, nor am I aware of the existence of one. If you are, please let me know. Sounds interesting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

After that, the email exchange continued for a few hours, with these emails fading into the reply column, when suddenly Weinstein seemed to have an epiphany:<\/p>\n

Something clearly changed in Weinstein’s tone. The content of his email indicates he or his assistant Chris Rodda had\u00a0apparently (and poorly) tried to do some\u00a0background research on his newfound pen pal — and he didn’t like what he’d found.<\/p>\n

In response, Mikey Weinstein brought the hate — and even longer ellipses:<\/p>\n

\"mikeyweinsteinemail25\"Not long after, however, Weinstein seemed to reconsider — and he sent the only known apology to ever come from Michael “Mikey” Weinstein:<\/p>\n

\"mikeyweinsteinemail22\"And that’s where it largely sat for a few months, with a few of Weinstein’s acolytes exchanging email pleasantries. (Weinstein shares his emails among his supporters, and they will often respond to the originator.\u00a0 The MRFF privacy policy indicates they won’t share your information “outside the Foundation,” so presumably those they have spam some of their critics<\/a>\u00a0are considered part of the “Foundation”).<\/p>\n

A few months later, though, Weinstein cooked off again, this time demanding personal identifying information at the end of a virtual wall of text [formatting original, emphasis added]:<\/p>\n

(That email contains one of Mikey Weinstein’s best quotes:<\/p>\n

we’ve put our money and veracity where our mouths are: in Federal Court…..<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For the record, Mikey Weinstein was tossed out<\/em> of that\u00a0Federal Court, apparently meaning he’d lost his money — and his veracity.\u00a0 As a result, Weinstein hasn’t been willing to “put his money where his mouth is” for years<\/em>.\u00a0 Now, he keeps a large part of that money for himself<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

For those that know Mikey Weinstein, they’ll recognize something else in this\u00a0diarrhea of the mouth besides\u00a0the bad grammar, poor spelling, and incomprehensible logic: projection<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

No one had participated in ad hominem<\/em> against Mikey Weinstein; in fact, he<\/em> was the one doing so even\u00a0in this very email — yet he accused others<\/em> of doing so.\u00a0 No one attacked his<\/em> family or their faith — yet he had done the very same to others<\/em> in that very email.\u00a0 No one was “hiding” behind a keyboard — a tactic the “keyboard commando” Mikey Weinstein\u00a0uses even today. (On that last point, Weinstein’s tantrums were somewhat amusing because he\u00a0was so contorted\u00a0demanding a name\u00a0he not only\u00a0already had<\/em>, but one he had also used<\/em> in addressing prior emails.)<\/p>\n

The emails continued in that vein for nearly a month, with Weinstein’s typical threats, name-calling, and generally obnoxious behavior throughout.\u00a0 It would seem Mikey Weinstein was unaccustomed to someone not immediately kowtowing to his superior…ellipses?<\/p>\n

After that last email, Weinstein finally went silent, allowing his acolytes to take his stead in the direct correspondence for more than a year.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0August of 2009, however, Weinstein’s habit of\u00a0sharing emails within his group backfired, as an email intended for internal distribution was accidentally sent to ChristianFighterPilot.com.<\/p>\n

That began another exchange with Weinstein, which resulted in this threat (including a reference to his SAT scores!<\/a>):<\/p>\n

\"mikeyweinsteinemail35\"By November, Weinstein was apparently finally\u00a0convinced that his long running effort of intimidation and email threats had failed.\u00a0\u00a0The lowly website with “only 3” readers refused to fold under his threats, and Chris Rodda would later confess\u00a0the “tiny blog” was beginning to have an effect.\u00a0 Thus,\u00a0Mikey Weinstein’s poorly formatted, grammar and spelling-challenged emails were\u00a0replaced by\u00a0letters from his lawyer<\/a>\u00a0— letters that were ultimately as weak-willed as his own emails.<\/p>\n

So while the\u00a0harassment became, in Mikey Weinstein’s words, a “different type of confrontation,” it was ultimately still just harassment.<\/p>\n

To be fair, most of these emails were received in an email exchange — and receiving<\/em> an email after you’ve sent<\/em> one can hardly be considered harassment.\u00a0 Rather, it is the content<\/em> of Mikey Weinstein’s diatribes that defied expectations\u00a0of common decency and degraded into harassment.\u00a0 Weinstein’s missives are\u00a0filled with personal invective, ad hominem<\/em>, intimidation, thinly veiled\u00a0threats of “confrontation,” denigration of family, creed, and character, accusations of criminal conduct, etc — none of which, by the way, was either warranted or returned in kind.\u00a0 The “hate speech” flowed only in one direction.<\/p>\n

Mikey Weinstein is one hate-filled grandpa.<\/p>\n

If nothing else, these emails show Mikey Weinstein has\u00a0a pretty big mouth —\u00a0and he’s not afraid to use it.\u00a0 These days, though,\u00a0Weinstein is more likely to start with his lawyer, but the effect is the same: If someone should\u00a0have the gall to\u00a0critique or counter his vapid arguments, Mikey Weinstein does little more than call people names, attack their character, and demand their capitulation — under thinly veiled threat of lawsuits and financial ruin.<\/p>\n

You’ll note, though, that nowhere within those spittle-flinging diatribes does Weinstein actually rebut the critique made of his argument, nor does he\u00a0defend his stated position — likely because he knows he can’t<\/em>.\u00a0 Instead, Weinstein simply attacks any person who would oppose him.<\/p>\n

When the truth reveals Mikey Weinstein’s\u00a0error, he attempts to silence the truth.<\/p>\n

If ChristianFighterPilot.com is any measure, Mikey Weinstein’s efforts have failed.<\/p>\n

Michael “Mikey” Weinstein’s lawyers once claimed ChristianFighterPilot.com was “obsessive” about Weinstein and his MRFF. Naturally, ChristianFighterPilot.com is about military religious freedom — and it is surely relevant when Mikey Weinstein, a public<\/em> figure, makes a living by publicly<\/em> attacking religious liberty, as he so frequently does.<\/p>\n
