Dorr, a prolific author and columnist for the Military Times papers, died on June 12th.<\/p>\n<p>A self-described opinion columnist who eschewed the title &#8220;journalist&#8221;, Dorr&#8217;s non-book work was described as pro-military but politically liberal. He was no stranger to controversy, calling for the closing of Guantanamo, the repeal of DADT, and even shutting down the Air Force as a whole. His apparent desire to advocate for the &#8220;little guy&#8221; sometimes made his counter-authority articles popular.<\/p>\n<p>Dorr was also no friend to military religious freedom. He once <!--more-->said the US military needed to throw out those<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>who can&#8217;t keep religion and duty in their separate places.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He explicitly and unapologetically called for &#8220;an anti-religion push&#8221; within the US military.<\/p>\n<p>Given his bluntly stated ideology, Dorr was a natural fit for Michael &#8220;Mikey&#8221; Weinstein&#8217;s anti-Christian crusade, which <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2012\/12\/06\/air-force-times-robert-dorr-advocates-for-weinsteins-mrff\/\">Dorr endorsed in 2012<\/a> &#8212; much to the delight of Weinstein and Chris Rodda. Of course, Dorr repeated much of the MRFF propaganda without critique, making the relationship between Dorr, Rodda, and Weinstein a somewhat circular self-licking ice cream cone.<\/p>\n<p>Though he continued to write books, Dorr last contributed to the Air Force Times in 2013, shortly after he waved the flag for the MRFF.<\/p>\n<p>He was diagnosed with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/story\/military\/2016\/01\/07\/former-air-force-times-columnist-bob-dorr-fighting-cancer\/78298854\/\">terminal brain tumor<\/a> late last year.<\/p>\n<p>Dorr was 76.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Robert Dorr&#8217;s blog can be <a href=\"http:\/\/robertfdorr.blogspot.com\/\">read here<\/a>.
