{"id":35483,"date":"2016-07-07T00:15:10","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T03:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=35483"},"modified":"2016-11-24T21:19:10","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T00:19:10","slug":"activist-constitutional-lawyer-get-military-liberty-wrong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/07\/activist-constitutional-lawyer-get-military-liberty-wrong\/","title":{"rendered":"Activist, Constitutional Lawyer Get Military Liberty Wrong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shannon Minter, a &#8220;transgender man&#8221; (that is, a woman) of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and David Codell, a constitutional lawyer in Los Angeles, celebrated the US military&#8217;s decision to permit service by openly transgender individuals in a recent column awkwardly titled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2016\/07\/05\/opinions\/transgender-military-decision-minter-codell\/\">A more equal military<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 They summarized the victory thusly [emphasis added]:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As a result, <strong>persons of any<\/strong> race, <strong>religion<\/strong>, sexual orientation or gender identity can provide equal protection to our nation through open, proud and equal service in our military.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They&#8217;re wrong, of course. In the most obvious example, <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2016\/06\/17\/push-continues-for-us-military-sikh-service\/\">persons of the Sikh faith<\/a> are not permitted <!--more-->to serve without abandoning the articles of their faith.
