Again."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2016\/05\/24\/soldier-complains-after-bible-used-during-army-ball\/\">complaint<\/a> by the perpetually-offended anti-Christian Michael &#8220;Mikey&#8221; Weinstein, the US Army <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/8th-army-warns-against-endorsements-of-religion-after-bible-complaint-1.416553\">has said<\/a> there was nothing wrong with a Bible being displayed on a POW\/MIA table during an Army ball, because it was a private event:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe individuals that participated in the ball have the right to express themselves as U.S. citizens under the First Amendment,\u201d Lt. Col. Catina Barnes-Ricks, an 8th Army spokesman, said Monday in an email.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The statement went on to say <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/story\/military\/2016\/06\/30\/new-guidance-issued-but-no-fault-found-8th-army-after-bible-ceremony-ball\/86549060\/\">they reminded Soldiers<\/a> not to endorse religion:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As the result of the inquiry, 8th Army has disseminated guidance&#8230;that an improper official endorsement of any religion during an official military function is unacceptable.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Weinstein had &#8220;won&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2016\/04\/18\/congressman-freedom-advocates-object-to-powmia-bible-removals\/\">similar complaints<\/a> in the previous few months &#8212; leading an Air Force chaplain to participate in a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2016\/06\/23\/dear-military-religious-freedom-foundation-remove-one-bible-thousands-will-take-its-place\/\">Bible distribution<\/a> at his base in response to the Bible&#8217;s removal.<\/p>\n<p>While technically a &#8220;win&#8221; for religious liberty, the Army is only a half step away from saying the <em>only<\/em> reason for the win was they didn&#8217;t have jurisdiction over the event, anyway. The Army makes a dire insinuation about &#8220;official endorsement&#8221; &#8212; which is a simple restatement of the obvious. In this context, however, it may have a chilling effect on future official events, because it seems to imply that were a POW\/MIA table to be at an <em>official<\/em> event, it <em>would<\/em> be &#8220;improper official endoresment of [a] religion&#8221; &#8212; which is ludicrous.<\/p>\n<p>That would be an end sought by Mikey Weinstein, who believes flat out<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;having a POW\/MIA table with a Bible on it is wrong.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Will the Army target religious texts in the future, simply because they are religious texts?
