{"id":34914,"date":"2016-04-20T00:15:54","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T03:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=34914"},"modified":"2016-11-24T21:43:22","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T00:43:22","slug":"bladensburg-peace-cross-defended-by-26-states-attorneys-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2016\/04\/20\/bladensburg-peace-cross-defended-by-26-states-attorneys-general\/","title":{"rendered":"Bladensburg Peace Cross Defended by 26 State Attorneys General"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Attorneys General from 26 states have signed a bipartisan brief in the ongoing case by the American Humanist Association to tear down the Bladensburg Peace Cross, a cross-shaped World War I memorial. <a href=\"http:\/\/atg.sd.gov\/News\/NewsReleases\/NewsReleasesView\/tabid\/441\/itemID\/3818\/moduleID\/719\/view\/597\/Default.aspx\">As published<\/a> by the Attorney General for South Dakota:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The State Attorneys General are requesting the Federal Courts to recognize important Constitutional rights and respect the dedication, sacrifice, and freedoms earned by our veterans,\u201d said Attorney General Jackley&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>South Dakota and 24 other states are requesting the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm a lower court\u2019s ruling, which found the U.S. Constitution allows veterans memorials with religious symbolism&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jackley highlighted something militant atheists are often hesitant to admit [emphasis added]:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[This] decision could impact memorials in West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, <strong>including those at Arlington National Cemetery.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ruling that this cross violated the Constitution and had to be torn down would directly affect similar memorials in that most hallowed of grounds, Arlington National Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Can anyone really hate the cross that much?
