{"id":33679,"date":"2015-09-30T00:30:08","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T03:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/?p=33679"},"modified":"2016-11-24T22:40:34","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T01:40:34","slug":"us-navy-defends-treatment-of-chaplain-wes-modder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/30\/us-navy-defends-treatment-of-chaplain-wes-modder\/","title":{"rendered":"US Navy Defends Treatment of Chaplain Wes Modder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While most of the story regarding US Navy Chaplain (LtCmdr) Wes Modder faded into the background with the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2015\/09\/07\/navy-reverses-rules-for-embattled-chaplain-modder\/\">news of his victory<\/a> a few weeks ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/bpnews.net\/45477\/chaplain-survives-dismissal-attempt\">one media story<\/a> included a quote from the Navy that seemed to indicate a bit of self-righteousness [emphasis added]:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A spokesperson for the Navy said <strong>the system in Modder&#8217;s case worked as it is supposed to<\/strong>, with an investigation following complaints lodged against Modder.<\/p>\n<p>The Navy takes issues like this very seriously, said Lt. Jessica Anderson, public affairs officer and writer for the Chief of Naval Personnel in Arlington, Va.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>When there are allegations of misconduct like this, we investigate &#8212; as we did in this case<\/strong>,&#8221; Anderson said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Part of Lt Anderson&#8217;s statement is actually fair: With some <!--more-->allowance for nuance, it is reasonable that an investigation might follow accusations against someone. (However, it is also worth noting that some people, like the MRFF&#8217;s Chris Rodda, seem to think an investigation <em>alone<\/em> is proof of wrongdoing.)
