The affectionately named &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2013\/09\/13\/the-story-of-big-mountain-jesus\/\">Big Mountain Jesus<\/a>&#8221; statue was <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/2012\/06\/08\/atheists-demand-jesus-come-down-from-montana-mountain\/\">erected as a memorial<\/a> to the 10th Mountain Division, who recalled seeing many similar shrines during their campaign in Italy during World War II.<\/p>\n<p>A 3-member panel of the 9th Circuit <!--more-->Court of Appeals recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/will-big-mountain-jesus-have-to-come-down-from-the-mountaintop-141301\/\">heard their appeal<\/a>, and the Becket Fund&#8217;s Eric Baxter said it went well for the defenders of the memorial:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The court seemed very prepared for the arguments.
