{"id":30954,"date":"2015-02-17T00:45:18","date_gmt":"2015-02-17T03:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=30954"},"modified":"2016-11-25T00:37:17","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T03:37:17","slug":"marine-on-morality-and-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/17\/marine-on-morality-and-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Marine on Morality and Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Marine Maj Lonnie Christian wrote a guest article on Tom Ricks&#8217; Foreign Policy blog entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2015\/02\/05\/morality-and-leadership-balance-is-required\/\">Morality and leadership: Balance is required<\/a>.&#8221; It was in response to Ricks&#8217; own piece entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2015\/01\/28\/against-morality-equaling-leadership\/\">Against morality equaling leadership<\/a>,&#8221; in which Ricks argued against the concept &#8220;that a good leader must be personally moral.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Christian&#8217;s short response, in <!--more-->which he argues that &#8220;personal conduct matters,&#8221; is worth the read.<\/p>\n<p>Undermining the entire argument, of course, is the root question <em>Who gets to define &#8220;moral&#8221;<\/em>?
