{"id":30875,"date":"2015-01-20T00:15:18","date_gmt":"2015-01-20T03:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=30875"},"modified":"2016-11-25T00:41:09","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T03:41:09","slug":"city-settles-lawsuit-removes-iconic-cross-statue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/20\/city-settles-lawsuit-removes-iconic-cross-statue\/","title":{"rendered":"City Settles Lawsuit, Removes Iconic Cross Statue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 382px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.christianfighterpilot.com\/images\/silhouette.jpg\" width=\"571\" height=\"269\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The city of King, NC, paid Americans United for the Separation of Church and State $500,000 and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2015\/01\/11\/north-carolina-city-removes-sculpture-soldier-kneeling-before-cross\/\">agreed to remove<\/a> the iconic image of a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/14\/king-city-war-memorial-goes-to-court\/\">soldier kneeling at a cross-shaped headstone<\/a>, ending a lawsuit filed in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The city council voted 3-2 to settle.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I feel this city has been sabotaged and bullied <!--more-->by folks who don\u2019t believe in what this community stands for,\u201d the newspaper quoted City Councilman Wesley Carter as saying when he voted against the settlement. \u201cI feel like we have been pressured by insurance companies and attorneys who have never been to King.
