{"id":30638,"date":"2015-01-05T00:30:59","date_gmt":"2015-01-05T03:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=30638"},"modified":"2016-11-25T00:47:19","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T03:47:19","slug":"obamas-popularity-among-military-affected-by-dadt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/05\/obamas-popularity-among-military-affected-by-dadt\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama&#8217;s Popularity Among Military Affected by DADT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0Military Times non-scientific survey of subscribers described how President Obama&#8217;s &#8220;popularity&#8221; within the military has &#8220;crumbled&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to a Military Times survey of almost 2,300 active-duty service members, Obama&#8217;s popularity \u2014 never high to begin with \u2014 has crumbled, falling from 35 percent in 2009 to just 15 percent this year, while his disapproval ratings have increased to 55 percent from 40 percent over that time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/story\/military\/2014\/12\/21\/americas-military-a-conservative-militarys-cultural-evolution\/18959975\/?fullsite=true\">Military Times piece<\/a> and another article at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/USA-Update\/2014\/1222\/Obama-s-popularity-falls-to-record-low-among-US-troops.-Why-video\">Christian Science Monitor<\/a> imply part of the reason for the decline is the &#8220;heavy-handed social engineering&#8221; of the military during the past few years, including the repeal of the ban on homosexuals serving in the US military.<\/p>\n<p>The Military Times article also continued the socially acceptable schizophrenic interpretation of the post-DADT environment in the US military. It first cites sources claiming\u00a0the repeal of DADT was a &#8220;non-event.&#8221; From Richard Kohn, a professor at UNC Chapel Hill:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We have heard no reporting of the kinds of disruptions that were predicted,&#8221; Kohn said. &#8220;It has been unsurprisingly smooth. It&#8217;s not surprising because military people have always known of gay people and lesbians in their units, and have either accepted them, or abused them based on the quality of their leadership&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Of the 800 words in the section on DADT, however, about half describe the <em>negative<\/em> issues and <em>negative<\/em> impact on military personnel that homosexual advocates simultaneously claim is <em>not<\/em> occurring:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bates said his Army husband has encountered hostility from his commanders and fellow soldiers since coming out.
