{"id":29787,"date":"2014-08-26T00:30:47","date_gmt":"2014-08-26T03:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=29787"},"modified":"2016-11-25T01:17:24","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T04:17:24","slug":"dod-issues-ban-on-als-ice-bucket-challenge-in-uniform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/26\/dod-issues-ban-on-als-ice-bucket-challenge-in-uniform\/","title":{"rendered":"DoD Issues Ban on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in Uniform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The US military told its service members <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/pentagon-tells-troops-not-to-mention-service-in-als-ice-bucket-challenge-1.299351\">not to participate<\/a> in the near-viral &#8220;ice bucket challenge&#8221; while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/article\/20140821\/NEWS05\/308210042\">wearing a military uniform<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cALS Association is a national non-profit organization,\u201d [Army spokeswoman Tatjana Christian] wrote. \u201cAs such, participating in this event is subject to concerns about implied endorsement.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The ban due to &#8220;implied endorsement&#8221; is interesting, given how many other things the US military has apparently endorsed &#8212; from a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/09\/dod-endorses-homosexual-advocacy-group\/\">homosexual activist group<\/a>, to <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/31\/mikey-weinstein-to-sue-after-general-endorses-mrff\/\">Mikey Weinstein<\/a>, and even the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/23\/air-force-endorses-new-england-patriots-over-ravens\/\">New England Patriots<\/a>.
