A local US Army article<\/a> notes that Bishop Neal Buckon<\/a> from the Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services recently attended the Spirit of Fort Hood Chapel to hold a confirmation:<\/p>\n

The sacrament of Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments revered by members of the Catholic community to retain their relationship with God: Baptism, Eucharist (or Communion), Reconciliation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The article goes through each of the sacraments and explains their significance to the Catholic faith — including, notably, the specifics of how Catholics view marriage:\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public display of a person who gives them self totally to another person. Catholics also believe it is a public statement about God\u2019s Values on the loving union of a husband and a wife<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The article also highlights some of the value of the military chapel and its connection with the church proper, with one parishioner noting she had “lost her connection to her faith because she had to move so often.”<\/p>\n

Chaplains and the military chapel system generally do an admirable job of supporting the religious freedom of US troops, no matter where they are.<\/p>\n
