In a surprising turn, Michael “Mikey” Weinstein has apparently reversed himself — saying the US Air Force Academy cadet Honor Oath is acceptable.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday night Weinstein was a 5-minute guest on Fox News’ Kelly File<\/a> — in which he compared “so help me God” to robbing a bank. The ignoble articulation has whipped around the internet and now appears on a wide variety of websites — accompanied by comments excoriating Weinstein for his ridiculous accusations.<\/p>\n It seems Weinstein feels he’s losing the battle, and he may have actually surrendered<\/em>.\u00a0 As reported in the local Colorado Springs Gazette<\/em><\/a>\u00a0[emphasis added]:\u00a0 <\/p>\n On the oath, Weinstein said his preference is for the reference to God to be removed.<\/p>\n He would settle, though, for “so help me God” to become optional.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The phrasing is disingenuous, because the oath is already<\/em> optional, as previously noted<\/a> and repeated by other religious liberty experts<\/a>\u00a0— which means Weinstein is “settled” with the oath as it is<\/em>.
