Gary Coburn, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing deputy wing chaplain&#8230;\u201cWe\u2019re targeting the airmen on the flightline who can&#8217;t get away from their job for an extended time to worship at one of the other chapels. We want them to know it&#8217;s \u2018come as you are\u2019, meaning if you&#8217;re dirty from working on a jet, it&#8217;s okay, come anyway.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While the war in Afghanistan is more than a decade old, the other chapels on Bagram were operated by other services or nations.<\/p>\n<p>The US military operates in unique environments and tempos.\u00a0 It is an admirable demonstration of the efforts of the chaplaincy to protect the religious rights of its troops that inspire chaplains to take extraordinary efforts to meet those needs.\u00a0 Whether services <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/22\/us-marines-preach-on-the-beach\/\">in the field<\/a>, at 0200 <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/26\/faith-of-the-traveling-chaplain\/\">in the morning<\/a>, or a special facility on the flightline, the chaplains strive to &#8220;go where you go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-share=\"true\" data-show-faces=\"true\" data-size=\"small\" data-action=\"like\" data-layout=\"standard\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><!-- blogpost --><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"2728423835\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6450825356098669\"><\/ins><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Air Force article highlights the opening of the first US Air Force Chapel on Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.
