{"id":26081,"date":"2013-10-23T00:15:55","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T03:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=26081"},"modified":"2016-11-26T00:32:09","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T03:32:09","slug":"air-force-could-save-billions-by-cutting-a-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/23\/air-force-could-save-billions-by-cutting-a-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Force Could Save Billions by Cutting A-10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) has lifted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/article\/20131017\/NEWS05\/310170021\">her hold<\/a> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/09\/senator-retains-hold-on-secaf-nominee\/\">nomination of Ms. Deborah Lee James<\/a> to the position of Secretary of the Air Force:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An Ayotte aide told Defense News on Thursday that Ayotte will no longer stand in the way of Debroah Lee James\u2019 nomination after carefully reviewing data provided in response to question she submitted to the Air Force.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Part of that data included responses from the Air Force that it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/article\/20131017\/NEWS\/310170027\">could save &#8220;billions&#8221;<\/a> of dollars by cutting an entire fleet, rather than &#8220;millions&#8221; by reducing it or making cuts elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>General Mark Welsh, Air Force Chief of Staff, provided some personal insight:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cA-10 was my first fighter &#8230; I love the airplane,\u201d Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh said in response to questions from Ayotte at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing last month. \u201cIt is the best airplane in the world at what it does. It is not the best at a lot of other things. It\u2019s capable in many areas.
