Jeff Iorg, president of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, recently said immorality itself is not a “final step” in a failing society; that final step is the celebration of and support for immorality<\/a> — which he believes is happening now in the United States:<\/p>\n

“The final act of an unraveling society isn’t immoral behavior; it’s canonizing immoral behavior as a ‘new normal’ and celebrating it as a ‘moral victory.'”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Importantly, however, Iorg noted that Christians should not oppose immoral behavior for behavior’s sake.\u00a0 Behavior is an outward expression of the condition of the heart — and the heart needs Jesus: <\/p>\n

Believers cannot become preoccupied with opposing immoral behavior, Iorg said; instead, they must realize that moral choices come from a person’s spiritual condition.<\/p>\n

“Unbelievers act like unbelievers. While we uphold our moral convictions, expecting unbelievers to model Christian behavior is a misplaced hope. Your first and best response to immorality in your community is to preach, teach, share, witness and live the Gospel,” Iorg said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Opponents of Christianity realize this too, which has led some to believe that “canonizing immoral behavior”\u00a0is simply the first step to the ‘de-normalization’ <\/em>of preaching Christianity.<\/p>\n
