{"id":25152,"date":"2013-08-23T00:45:15","date_gmt":"2013-08-23T03:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=25152"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:01:09","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:01:09","slug":"the-challenge-of-shabbat-in-baghdad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/23\/the-challenge-of-shabbat-in-baghdad\/","title":{"rendered":"The Challenge of Shabbat in Baghdad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jewish Journal documents the story of US Army Captain Eric Goldie, a Jewish soldier deployed to Iraq and trying to remain faithful to his religious exercise in an article entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishjournal.com\/religion\/article\/shabbat_in_iraq_under_the_gun\">Shabbat in Iraq: Under the Gun<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On Shabbat, Goldie and a small group of soldiers, embassy workers and contractors \u2014 and even one Iraqi-Jewish woman \u2014 would gather in the U.S. Embassy to daven.
