{"id":25130,"date":"2013-08-24T01:00:43","date_gmt":"2013-08-24T04:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=25130"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:00:59","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:00:59","slug":"dod-grants-spousal-benefits-to-homosexuals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/24\/dod-grants-spousal-benefits-to-homosexuals\/","title":{"rendered":"DoD Grants Spousal Benefits to Homosexuals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Defense announced it would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defense.gov\/\/releases\/release.aspx?releaseid=16203\">grant homosexuals &#8220;spousal benefits&#8221;<\/a> starting in September.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>After a review of the department\u2019s benefit policies following the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling that Section Three of [DOMA] is unconstitutional&#8230;, the Defense Department will make spousal and family benefits available no later than Sept. 3, 2013, regardless of sexual orientation, as long as service member-sponsors provide a valid marriage certificate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Because some homosexual troops might be in <!--more-->jurisdictions that won&#8217;t allow them to get a marriage certificate, the military is\u00a0granting a specific benefit to homosexuals: 7-10 days of non-chargeable leave to travel to a state where homosexual marriages are recognized to obtain the required paperwork.\u00a0 The DoD said this would<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>help level the playing field between opposite-sex and same-sex couples seeking to be married.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The DoD declined to cite a law requiring it to proactively &#8220;level the playing field&#8221; with regard to sexuality, or under what authority it could grant leave based solely on sexuality.\u00a0 Groups have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/dod-leave-for-same-sex-marriage-criticized-1.236004\">decried the leave<\/a> as <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.al.com\/breaking\/2013\/08\/christian_group_says_pentagon.html\"><em>special<\/em> treatment, not equal treatment<\/a>, with the FRC essentially calling it a same-sex marriage &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/frc-calls-on-military-to-stop-taxpayer-funded-bonuses-for-same-sex-weddings-102750\/\">bonus<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The FRC found it ironic the DoD was out of money but could still afford to pay for &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/frcblog.com\/2013\/08\/pentagons-gift-dod-now-has-money-homosexual-honeymoons\/\">homosexual honeymoons<\/a>,&#8221; though that&#8217;s not a precisely accurate characterization.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-share=\"true\" data-show-faces=\"true\" data-size=\"small\" data-action=\"like\" data-layout=\"standard\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><!-- blogpost --><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"2728423835\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6450825356098669\"><\/ins><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Defense announced it would grant homosexuals &#8220;spousal benefits&#8221; starting in September.
