{"id":25034,"date":"2013-08-19T01:13:36","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T04:13:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=25034"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:03:46","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:03:46","slug":"old-post-chapel-gets-3m-renovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/19\/old-post-chapel-gets-3m-renovation\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Post Chapel Gets $3M Renovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.christianfighterpilot.com\/images\/oldpost.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Old Post Chapel at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.army.mil\/jbmhh\">Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall<\/a> has undergone a substantial renovation and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcmilitary.com\/article\/20130816\/NEWS10\/130819890\/chapel-renovations-near-completion\">will re-open in the coming month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While a building renovation may seem insubstantial, the Old Post Chapel is unique:\u00a0 It is where funerals are held for burials at Arlington National Cemetery.\u00a0 As noted at the awkwardly-named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcmilitary.com\/section\/news10\">Pentagram<\/a> military paper:\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Old Post Chapel&#8230;built in 1934, has been undergoing a first-of-its-kind $3 million renovation since the beginning of the year&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>These upgrades will be an improvement to the quality of life for the Family members who attend funerals at the chapel&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Arlington National Cemetery chaplains conduct the funerals there in support of their mission,&#8221; [Chaplain (LtCol) Clyde Scott] said. The Old Guard supports the mission of ANC by providing ushers in the chapel as well as the Caisson Platoon.
