{"id":23836,"date":"2013-07-11T00:41:41","date_gmt":"2013-07-11T03:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=23836"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:15:53","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:15:53","slug":"military-officer-accuses-marine-corps-of-legal-charade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/11\/military-officer-accuses-marine-corps-of-legal-charade\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Officer Accuses Marine Corps of &#8220;Legal Charade&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aclu.org\/blog\/womens-rights\/let-my-marines-do-their-jobs\">published by the ACLU<\/a> was by-lined &#8220;Colleen Farrell, Captain, U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.&#8221;\u00a0 Captain Farrell slammed the US military for its &#8220;charade&#8221; in following the now-rescinded policies prohibiting women from certain combat roles.\u00a0 As Captain Farrell describes it, the policies were not that females <em>couldn&#8217;t<\/em> serve in combat roles; as executed, the policies prevented females from serving <em>greater than 45 days<\/em> in a combat role:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Because of the combat exclusion policy, women Marines <!--more-->were not allowed to physically &#8220;co-locate&#8221; with a direct ground combat unit. In order to comply with this policy, my team was forced to return to the main Marine base in Afghanistan every 45 days for a single night and catch the next convoy or flight to return to our patrol bases.<\/p>\n<p>We did not return to that main base for any operational purpose; it was simply a charade so that we met the letter of the law.
