Many sites have now reported on US Army MSgt Nathan Sommers, a member of the US Army Band, who has apparently been targeted for his words or actions associated with “his conservative political and religious beliefs.”<\/p>\n
As reported at FoxNews<\/a>, Sommers<\/p>\n said he is facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n For its part, the Army categorically denied the characterization:<\/p>\n “The Soldier is not, and never has been, \u2018facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party,\u2019\u201d Public Affairs Director Michelle Roberts told Fox News in a written statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Sommer’s lawyer says that’s “misinformed or disingenuous,” though it may also be very careful wording.\u00a0 Sommers has indicated<\/a> he thinks he is being targeted by a group of individuals within the band who disagree with his beliefs and are on a “witch hunt” against him.<\/p>\n Sommers, who has been working through this controversy for more than a year<\/a>,\u00a0is reportedly now also facing punishment<\/a> for other unrelated administrative actions.<\/p>\n As an aside, Army MSgt CJ Grisham uses this incident<\/a> as one reason for\u00a0the demise of the MILBLOGs.<\/p>\n ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
