Michael Weinstein’s Military Religious Freedom Foundation has a history of claiming only the “right kind” of Christians deserve religious liberty in the US military.\u00a0 In 2011, the MRFF demanded the US Air Force Academy rescind a speaking invitation given to someone who “does not represent true<\/strong> Christianity<\/a>” [emphasis added].\u00a0 For that same event, Weinstein was personally outraged the invitation was given to the wrong kind <\/em>of Christian<\/a>.\u00a0 In another scenario, Chris Rodda readily admitted the MRFF opposed the religious <\/a>beliefs<\/a> <\/em>of Christians, not any action or conduct on their part.<\/p>\n

The MRFF just recently refined their definition of “acceptable” religious<\/del> Christian belief.<\/p>\n

Lawrence Wilkerson is a retired Army Colonel and recent addition to the MRFF.\u00a0 He also joined Michael Weinstein at his much ballyhooed Pentagon meeting last month<\/a>.\u00a0 Wilkerson recently published a tirade against “so-called” Christians<\/a> who are the target of the MRFF’s wrath:<\/p>\n

Another perniciously destructive anomaly threatened good order and discipline in the ranks. And this one came from so-called Christians.<\/p>\n

I write \u201cso-called\u201d simply because these people do not believe in the Christ of the Scriptures; they believe in some human-crafted, almost demonic version of Christ. These people have done to Christ what Osama bin Laden did to Muhammad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What dastardly thing have these “vicious” US troops done to deserve such disdain, even to the point of being demoted from full membership in MRFF-Approved True ChristianityTM<\/sup>?\u00a0 Wilkerson provides exactly 21 words <\/em>of specificity:<\/p>\n

Whether being ordered to attend Christian prayer breakfasts, constantly derided for being non-Christian, or simply pressured to \u201cget right with Jesus,”…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If any of those “examples” were actionable and provable, Weinstein would be in federal court right now claiming he was a “Tiger Woods 1 inch putt” from victory.\u00a0 After all, Weinstein sued the US military four times<\/a> with far less.\u00a0 If that’s <\/em>all Wilkerson’s got, it seems the MRFF really has <\/em>been reduced to nothing but bluster.<\/p>\n

At least Wilkerson shares Weinstein’s penchant for melodramatic conspiracy<\/a> theories:<\/p>\n

Now we have a breed of fundamentalist Christian trying to proselytize our armed forces into hell…<\/p>\n

Next, we may have the construction of fundamentalist Christian madrassas all across this great land.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Try not to think too hard about the “proselytize into hell” thing; it’ll never make sense.<\/p>\n

Better is the “Christian madrassas” comment.\u00a0 (It’s actually an “Islamophobic” and offensive use of an\u00a0Arabic word, but Weinstein has a history of that religious insensitivity, too.)\u00a0 Rick Baker already outed the location of the first one<\/a>, which then had to be moved.\u00a0 Do you know how hard it is to ship a brainwashing machine…?<\/p>\n
