{"id":21501,"date":"2013-02-14T01:58:07","date_gmt":"2013-02-14T04:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=21501"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:51:42","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:51:42","slug":"dod-ig-hammers-air-force-over-f-22-crash-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/14\/dod-ig-hammers-air-force-over-f-22-crash-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"DoD IG Hammers Air Force over F-22 Crash Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Defense Inspector General <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/2013\/02\/airforce-report-f22-crash-slammed-by-dod-ig-021113\/\">levied harsh criticisms against the Air Force<\/a> after completing an investigation of the Air Force&#8217;s handling of the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/22\/f-22-pilot-capt-jeffrey-haney-killed-in-crash\/\">November 2010 F-22 crash<\/a> that took the life of pilot Capt Jeff Haney:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An Air Force investigation into a fatal F-22 crash that blamed the pilot \u201cwas not supported by the facts\u201d and failed to sufficiently analyze <!--more-->how oxygen problems contributed to the crash, the Defense Department Inspector General said&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The IG found that \u201cthe AIB Statement of Opinion regarding the cause of the mishap was not supported by the facts within the AIB report&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The DoD IG&#8230;said that the Air Force did not exhaust all investigative leads and reiterated that the Air Force failed to follow its own AFI in investigating the crash.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The initial Air Force report said <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/20\/air-force-says-f-22-crash-was-pilot-error\/\">pilot error caused the crash<\/a>, though then-Chief of Staff Gen Schwartz <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/07\/general-says-air-force-did-not-fault-crash-pilot-despite-report\/\">disputed that characterization<\/a> in testimony to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Haney&#8217;s widow filed a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/20\/f-22-pilots-widow-sues-lockheed-boeing\/\">lawsuit against the manufacturers<\/a> of the aircraft last year &#8212;
