{"id":21320,"date":"2013-02-04T02:25:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-04T05:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=21320"},"modified":"2016-11-26T01:54:03","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T04:54:03","slug":"doolittle-raiders-announce-final-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/04\/doolittle-raiders-announce-final-reunion\/","title":{"rendered":"Doolittle Raiders Announce Final Reunion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Doolittle Raiders &#8212; the 80 men who made the daring Tokyo raid that inspired a nation &#8212; have had an annual reunion for the past 67 years.\u00a0 At each one, they have toasted their comrades who have passed the prior year and ceremoniously turned their goblets over.\u00a0 The plan was that the final two Raiders would open and drink a cognac bottled the year their then-leader, Jimmy Doolittle, was born.<\/p>\n<p>There are five remaining Raiders, four of whom are &#8220;active.&#8221;\u00a0 All are well into their 90s.<\/p>\n<p>The Doolittle Raiders\u00a0have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/us\/doolittle-raiders-to-meet-for-final-reunion-to-close-this-mission-1.206219\">decided to make 2013 their last reunion<\/a>, and they will open the bottle this year.<\/p>\n<p>For their final reunion, they will return <!--more-->to the place they first trained for their mission &#8212; Eglin Field, now Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Raiders trained at then Eglin Field with Lt. Col.
