{"id":20936,"date":"2013-01-07T02:57:30","date_gmt":"2013-01-07T05:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=20936"},"modified":"2016-11-26T02:01:26","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T05:01:26","slug":"senate-declines-to-promote-fratricide-fighter-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/07\/senate-declines-to-promote-fratricide-fighter-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate Declines to Promote Fratricide Fighter Pilot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The US Senate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/navy\/senate-balks-at-promotion-for-navy-officer-who-shot-down-f-4-1.202897\">declined to promote<\/a> a Navy Captain to Admiral over an incident that occurred more than 20 years ago:\u00a0 he <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/21\/fighter-pilot-shoots-down-friendly-promoted-to-admiral\/\">shot down<\/a> a US Air Force fighter.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A Senate committee has refused to approve a promotion to admiral for a Navy officer who, as a young fighter pilot during a training mission, deliberately shot down an Air Force plane whose <!--more-->flier has suffered a life of pain from his forced ejection, The Washington Times reported.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>US Navy Captain Timothy Dorsey&#8217;s promotion had been opposed by retired Air Force LtCol Michael Ross &#8212; the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/23\/shootdown-victim-opposes-former-navy-pilots-promotion\/\">pilot he shot down<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate did not approve the promotion, but it did not deny it.\u00a0 The Pentagon can still submit the Captain&#8217;s name next year.\u00a0 For his part, Capt Dorsey <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2013\/jan\/3\/senate-balks-at-promotion-for-navy-officer-who-sho\/?page=all#pagebreak\">still seems hopeful<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Capt.
