{"id":20904,"date":"2013-01-03T00:30:55","date_gmt":"2013-01-03T03:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=20904"},"modified":"2016-11-26T02:02:13","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T05:02:13","slug":"us-marines-to-institute-blues-fridays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/03\/us-marines-to-institute-blues-fridays\/","title":{"rendered":"US Marines to Institute Blues Fridays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Update<\/strong><\/em><\/span>: An official Defense.gov article notes the recent changes in Armed Services uniform policies and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defense.gov\/\/news\/newsarticle.aspx?id=118917\">covers some of the highlights<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Just after the US Air Force abandoned &#8220;blues Mondays,&#8221; the US Marine Corps has announced that, as of tomorrow, Fridays require Marines to wear <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/99850\/service-uniforms-every-friday\">service uniforms instead of their utilities<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Beginning Jan. 4, 2013, all non-deployed Marines and sailors assigned to Marine units, regardless of component, active or Reserve, will be required to wear the appropriate seasonal service uniform each Friday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The reasons given are the &#8220;form fitting&#8221; nature of the service uniform <!--more-->&#8212; which means leaders can &#8220;evaluate the personal appearance&#8221; of their Marines &#8212;\u00a0as well as a return to the &#8216;smartly dressed&#8217; Marine image:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Watching Marines square their gig line away and adjust their uniform is indicative of the \u2018spit and polish\u2019 pride we seem to have strayed from,&#8221; said [SgtMaj Michael] Sprague.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Air Force Chief of Staff Gen Mark Welsh recently declined to renew the top-level requirement that <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/11\/30\/csaf-general-welsh-ends-air-force-blues-mondays\/\">Airmen wear their blues on Monday<\/a>; as a result, most MAJCOMs removed the requirement.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-share=\"true\" data-show-faces=\"true\" data-size=\"small\" data-action=\"like\" data-layout=\"standard\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>ADVERTISEMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><!-- blogpost --><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"2728423835\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6450825356098669\"><\/ins><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Update: An official Defense.gov article notes the recent changes in Armed Services uniform policies and covers some of the highlights.
