{"id":20614,"date":"2012-12-14T01:43:53","date_gmt":"2012-12-14T04:43:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=20614"},"modified":"2017-01-25T02:17:26","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T05:17:26","slug":"retired-soldier-investigated-for-remarks-on-homosexuality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/14\/retired-soldier-investigated-for-remarks-on-homosexuality\/","title":{"rendered":"Retired Soldier Investigated for Remarks on Homosexuality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LifeSiteNews <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/obama-administration-investigating-sargeant-who-said-the-bible-condemns-hom\">reports<\/a> retired US Army 1SG Lynn Vanzandt, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grissomjrotc.org\/\">JROTC instructor in Huntsville, AL<\/a>, is being investigated by the Department of Education for allegations of harassment and discrimination, based on statements he made regarding the Bible and homosexuality:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Department of Education sent a letter to Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Casey Wardynski this week, informing him that federal investigators will look into claims of alleged harassment <!--more-->and discrimination related to Robinson\u2019s complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The letter says the OCR will investigate \u201cwhether the students were subjected to a hostile environment on the basis of sex or harassment based on failing to conform to gender stereotypes, when a JROTC teacher made comments about the Bible and homosexuality.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are varying claims about some facts, like who started the conversation and whether it was a \u201cdiscussion\u201d or a \u201crant.\u201d Regardless, it is notable the content of the conversation is the issue: A high school JROTC instructor is being investigated not because he <em>discussed<\/em> his views with students, but because those views are moral in nature.<\/p>\n<p>What are the chances an investigation would have been launched if he had expressed his perspective on drug use?<\/p>\n<p>What was once up is now down. What was once right is now wrong. And merely <em>stating<\/em> one\u2019s beliefs, if they are not supportive of homosexuality, can generate not just a complaint (anyone can complain, after all), but actually carry enough merit to warrant an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The DOE Office of Civil Rights notes they have not made a determination as to the &#8220;merits&#8221; of the claim.\u00a0 They are acting as a &#8220;neutral fact-finder&#8221; in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if you believe Chris Rodda, the fact they\u2019ve even <em>launched<\/em> an investigation is proof enough.
