{"id":20476,"date":"2012-12-05T02:57:10","date_gmt":"2012-12-05T05:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=20476"},"modified":"2015-06-27T19:12:51","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T22:12:51","slug":"west-point-cadet-leaves-over-criminal-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/05\/west-point-cadet-leaves-over-criminal-christianity\/","title":{"rendered":"West Point Cadet Leaves over Criminal Christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senior West Point Cadet Blake Page <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/blake-page\/west-point-religious-freedom_b_2232279.html\">announced his resignation<\/a> from the US Military Academy on the internet, calling his superior military officers &#8220;criminals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/usnews.nbcnews.com\/_news\/2012\/12\/04\/15676692-west-point-cadet-quits-cites-criminal-behavior-of-officers\">reported on NBC<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Countless officers here and throughout the military are guilty of blatantly violating the oaths they swore to defend the Constitution,&#8221; wrote Page&#8230;&#8221;These men and women are criminals, <!--more-->complicit in light of day defiance of the Uniform Code of Military Justice through unconstitutional proselytism, discrimination against the non-religious and establishing formal policies to reward, encourage and even at times require sectarian religious participation.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Page has been noted here before, as he has previously publicly <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/27\/weinstein-sticks-foot-in-mouth-over-west-point-survey\/\">criticized the West Point religious environment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By choosing to resign one semester before his graduation, Page incurs a commitment to repay his education.\u00a0 (Cadets can resign up until the conclusion of their sophomore year without penalty.)\u00a0 Most often, this means serving a few years as an enlisted Soldier &#8212; which Page was before he was given encouragement by officers to apply to West Point because he was a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.military.com\/daily-news\/2012\/12\/04\/west-pointer-quits-over-proselytizing.html?comp=7000023317828\">high performer<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, some cadets who cannot serve (for example, those who\u00a0are discharged for criminal reasons or conduct prejudicial to military service in general) incur a financial debt.\u00a0 It is unclear if those debts are actually repaid, as appeal processes could reduce or eliminate those payments.<\/p>\n<p>As to Page&#8217;s complaints, they don&#8217;t appear to have changed. What <em>has <\/em>changed is his relationship with Michael Weinstein, who is now using (former?)
