[LtCol] Mark Knox, director of the FLCTC&#8230; \u201c[Chaplains] go to school and get an additional degree over at Texas A&amp;M in Counseling Psychology. And then we provide <!--more-->them with a setting where they get lots of experience in counseling their soldiers and their family members.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chaplain Knox described the role of these chaplains as &#8220;saving lives,&#8221; which may not be an overstatement.\u00a0 Within the US Army&#8217;s epidemic of suicides, <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/02\/poor-spiritual-foundation-may-be-key-to-military-suicides\/\">broken relationships<\/a> remain a leading stressor.\u00a0 Contrary to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/atheists-ask-military-to-drop-religious-expressions-in-suicide-prevention-briefings-82680\/\">claim of a military atheist<\/a>, chaplains rightly have a role in suicide prevention, and family counseling is one of many ways they can contribute to that cause.<\/p>\n<p>Chaplains remain an integral part of the resiliency of members of the military.\u00a0 Even though they are leaders of their faith, they serve all, even &#8212; or perhaps especially &#8212; in counseling.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the Army, the word \u201cchaplain\u201d is associated with religion. However, Knox said everyone is welcomed inside the training center.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe are here to help soldiers and respect them for who they are, and what they believe,\u201d explained Knox. \u201cWe\u2019re not imposing our beliefs on anyone else. As chaplains, we\u2019re people of faith. That\u2019s a part of who we are. We provide really quality, caring, professional counseling to anybody.
