{"id":192,"date":"2008-05-29T19:59:14","date_gmt":"2008-05-30T02:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=192"},"modified":"2011-11-23T21:11:45","modified_gmt":"2011-11-24T00:11:45","slug":"crosses-removed-from-army-chapel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/29\/crosses-removed-from-army-chapel\/","title":{"rendered":"Crosses Removed from Army Chapel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/0,2933,360004,00.html\">FoxNews<\/a>, the Army has decided to remove three crosses and a memorial plaque that honored a Chaplain who died while serving on Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo.\u00a0 This was reportedly to comply with Army <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianfighterpilot.com\/articles\/files\/r1651.pdf\">regulations<\/a> that require chapels to have neutral appearances and not be named. \u00a0From 13-3:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The chapel environment will be religiously neutral when the facility is not being used for scheduled worship.\u00a0 Chapels must be available to people of all faith groups for meditation and prayer when formal religious services are not scheduled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>[Religious] symbols are to be moved or covered when not in use. Distinctive religious symbols, such as crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David, menorah, and other religious symbols, will not be affixed or displayed permanently on the chapel exterior or grounds.
