Though a couple of critics are claiming that non-religious events are disfavored in the US military, and at Camp Pendleton<\/a>, it turns out the Marines recently hosted an entire (non-religious) summer camp<\/a> just for kids:<\/p>\n

Marine Corps Community Services started their first day of the four day class of Camp Camo for the summer at the Paige Fieldhouse on Camp Pendleton, July 31.<\/p>\n

Camp Camo is a youth summer camp where children seven to 11-years-old learn about nutrition, exercise and how to stay healthy during the summer months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The kids learned about healthy eating, physical activity, and had the chance to make tie-dye shirts.<\/p>\n

The event was just the most recent example of the US Marine Corps’ — and the US military’s — frequent and consistent efforts to support the troops and their families.\u00a0 The military does <\/em>support the religious exercise of its troops, but those events are a far cry from the “endorsed” or “preferential” military stance some critics claim.\u00a0 In fact, the vast <\/em>majority of events the military hosts or supports are morale and family support events — just simple, non-religious activities to support the needs of servicemembers and their families.<\/p>\n
